Spring cleaning your healthcare business
Spring is in the air, and that means spring cleaning.
The American Cleaning Institute reports that more than 80 percent of Americans plan to do spring cleaning in their homes, a ritual that dates back to the 1700s, when the first days of spring allowed you to open your windows and doors and let out the winter dust and dirt.
But homes are not the only thing needing a spring cleaning. It’s time to take a look at your healthcare business or clinic, and see what needs refreshing there, as well. After all, you probably already purge your closets inside and freshen up the landscaping outside. Spring is the perfect time to rid your medical business of the cobwebs inside and let some fresh air in, too.
Here are some suggestions to help:
- Take stock of where you are in your medical practice and where you want to be. Take a look at your mission and vision statements. Do they still meet your organization’s strategic goals? What’s changed? How do you want to grow your practice and move forward?
- Connect with your business partners. Spring is a great time to catch up with business partners, vendors and suppliers. Find out what’s new on their end, and see how they may enhance your healthcare business.
- Take a look at your operating costs. Review your payroll, organizational structure, physical office, and any other services you have for your business. Are there changes you need or options you should consider?
- Find new opportunities. Whether it is boosting your marketing to increase the number of patients you serve, expanding your practice, or capitalizing on your receivables, look for ways to increase your bottom line.
